WONDER CHIWARIDZO BIOGRAPHY

   Wonder Chiwaridzo was born on the 30th of October, 1968 in Chiweshe Communal lands in Mashonaland Province, Zimbabwe. He attended his primary education at St. Albanians School and later gained admission to Kanyemba Secondary School where he did his O levels.

    During his primary education and secondary school, he was a talented and enthusiastic artist in wood carving, painting and craft work. Wonder managed to sell his works and pay his school fees and buy uniforms from his proceeds. Some of his carvings, paintings and crafts are still displayed at his fathers homestead.

    After his secondary education, Wonder did not leave his artistic interest, he went on refining his artistic work and is now earning a living from it. He got a lot of assistance from his brother Earnest Chiwaridzo, a second generation stone sculptor. Since he has an innate artistic talent, it didn't take him long to be one of the best third generation stone sculptors.

    Wonder is married to Tambudzai Mahoko and they have two children, Abigail and Progress. He adores his immediate family and cherishes the bond and responsibilities of the extended family which is part of the Zimbabwean culture. His loving wife tells Wonder stories "of ancient and present time which have pleasures and implications of art".  These stories influence Wonder's work.
