Biography of Elliot Rumano

    Elliot Rumano is a man of twenty five years. He was born in Murehiver District located in Mashonaland East, Zimbabwe. He comes from a family of seven boys and two girls. Four of the brothers are sculptors. His inspiration came from his father's artistic nature.

    Elliot started sculpting in 1993 and has decided that it will be his full time occupation. "I started shaping soapstone just after completing my ordinary level at school", he says. Most of his experience was through one of his elder brothers, Nelson Rumano, who is a known sculptor.

    "There are a lot of various stone arts in Zimbabwe and I'm involved in unique abstract forms. This art is great and breathtaking." Elliot's hope is to take his art to its' highest level and to become one of the worlds masters of abstract arts. His works have been exhibited in the U.S. and galleries in Zimbabwe.
