Traditional Musical Instruments

These traditional instruments are handmade from native materials. The drum is made from a soft wood from the indigenous Mupfuti tree. The hide on the top of the drum is cowhide.

Pod Shackles: $15

These traditional shackles are made from the shells of an edible pod called Budzi in Shona. They differ in size, the material used  and the way they are used. Some are played using the hands and some are tied around the legs so as one dances they produce the sound one wants.

The Mbira thumb instruments are made from Calabash.
